Have Your Say On The Big Idea
We’ve all heard the tired trope of artistic endeavours being compensated with the intangible ‘exposure’ - ie “we aren’t going to pay you”.
Well, The Big Idea wants to pay for your exposure.
$2000 worth, to be precise.
We’re providing the opportunity for creatives - be it an individual, collective, company or organisation - to be given $2K of promotion here on TBI at a time where marketing budgets are feeling the pinch.
Everyone who completes our 2022 Creative Careers survey BY 5PM MONDAY 9 MAY 2022, is in the running for the promotional package.
So whether you want to draw more people to your website, to showcase your talent, to advertise an upcoming show or put the spotlight on the amazing mahi you and your colleagues do for our communities - this is an opportunity to put yourself in front of tens of thousands of like-minded followers of creativity.
The survey - which takes a matter of minutes - is also your chance to have your voice heard.
It’s designed to help us make sure we’re providing the information, inspiration, investigation and education offerings that are most relevant to the creative community needs in 2022.
Like any good creative, we want to know what our audience - the TBI whānau - thinks.
TBI’s driving kaupapa is to help creatives have sustainable, satisfying careers and experiences in the sector. That approach has led to the development of Toipoto, TBI’s mentoring programme run through the Creative Careers Scheme.
We want you to tell us how we can help you develop your career and what you think Aotearoa's creative community needs to thrive.
Annie Ackerman, TBI’s Chief Executive says “so much has changed in the creative sector in the last years - our comfort and reliance on the digital space has been a feature of change.
“We realised the seriousness of the implications caused by COVID, so TBI quickly evolved our content and the resources we provided to react in real time to the creative community’s needs.
“We’re really excited about the opportunity to gain insights on how we can provide the best support to Aotearoa’s creatives and ensure our relationship with our audience is as strong as it can be."
TBI speaks to and hears from creatives from all over the country on a weekly basis - it guides our approach and allows us the chance to support advocates for change in the sector, to give those who feel overlooked a platform to be noticed.
This survey will inform the approaches we take, the stories we write and the support we offer for the years to come.
Ackerman explains “we want to use the lessons learned from the pandemic to recast what work needs to be done for creatives of all walks of life - whether experienced and entrenched in the sector or just starting out - to help navigate their paths to sustainable careers.
“That means we want to better understand the dynamics of work, and comprehend more closely the needs of those in a range of settings - freelancing, contracting, employed or self-employed.
“We want to make some choices, guided by your insights and learnings, to springboard into a new world that two years ago was barely imaginable.”
The ball is now in your court - help us give you more of what you want and need by filling out the form below.
And remember, TBI is always here for you to promote your jobs and opportunities as well as your events.
We value your time and thank you for your ongoing support - we want to return the favour.
